R P Patel, trustee of VUF, told reporters on Thursday that the temple will be 131 meter (431 feet) high and spread across 100 bighas of land. “There will be three viewing galleries at 82 and 90 and 110 metres height from where the devotees can see the surrounding Ahmedabad. The design is jointly created by an Indian and a German architect,” he said.
The idol of the goddess will be installed at the height of 52 feet whereas there will also be other temples including a Shiva lingam made of mercury. “The two-day event is likely to be attended by 2 lakh devotees from across the world. Mahant Swami and Sri Sri Ravishankar will be present along with 21 major sants and mahants,” said a trustee.
The project will cost over Rs 800 crore, said trust officials. While Rs 375 crore has been raised by the community, more than Rs 500 crore will be raised over the period of five years, they added. The extended premises will have skill development university, career development centre, hospital, sports facility, NRI bhavan, immigration and employment guidance centres and a space for community court (panch).
